Globalive Communications to create over 100 new jobs –Job Fair to take place January 7, 2009

WINDSOR, ON – December 29, 2008 – Globalive Communications Corp. today announced its plans to open a new customer service centre in Windsor in the New Year. The call centre will create approximately 100 jobs but anticipates that additional jobs will arise as Globalive prepares to launch its new, national wireless service offering. Globalive will host a job fair on January 7 to fill customer service and technical support positions.

“We are very excited to welcome Globalive Communications to Windsor-Essex,” said Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis. “This dynamic and growing company offers a significant opportunity for diversifying our economy and will be a positive addition to the local business community.”

The Job Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on January 7, 2009 at 400 City Hall Square West, Room 101, Main Floor. The fair is aiming to fill 75 full time positions and 25 part time. The first week of training will commence as early as January 12. Specifically, they are looking to hire Customer Service Representatives, a Call Centre Manager, and Call Centre Supervisor. Bilingualism is considered an asset.

“Locating in Windsor gives us access to a workforce with a reputation for quality, which is essential to our business,” said Ezio D’Onofrio, President of Globalive Communications Corp. “We look forward to having Windsor be a part of our growth.”

Globalive has become a household name following their successful bid in Canada’s wireless auction this Spring. The company, which has over 150 employees, has been consistently recognized as an exceptional employer and has won many prestigious awards including Canadian Business’ Top 30 Best Workplaces in Canada as well as Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for four consecutive years.

“At Globalive we have a strong reputation as a great place to work and we look forward to building an environment that fosters pride in a job well done, where our employees will make a difference and contribute to our success,” said D’Onofrio. “Globalive is a place of opportunity, where employees can and grow and contribute in meaningful ways.”

At a time of economic hardship, the new call centre will provide opportunities for local residents. “The employment opportunities offered by Globalive are certainly positive news for our region,” said Essex County Warden Nelson Santos. “We believe the company will be extremely pleased with the quality and dedication of the Windsor-Essex workforce.”

“I would like to congratulate the staff at the Development Commission and the corporate executives at Globalive for making this announcement possible,” said Windsor Essex Development Commission Chairman Remo Mancini. “This decision by Globalive will add a new corporate citizen to our community and help diversify our job base.“

As a growing telecom services provider that supports and encourages growth within the organization, Globalive will provide tremendous opportunity for career advancement. The company plans to make a significant investment in training and development for customer service centre employees relating to each individual’s role as well as the company’s overall organizational goals.
