Waterloo Career fair at Rim Park in September 30

Wed. Sept 30, 2009
10:00 am - 3:30 pm
RIM Park • Waterloo • ON

WATERLOO – Students and recent graduates from four local post-secondary institutions will shop for employers Wednesday at a huge career fair in Waterloo.

The free event – to be held at RIM Park in Waterloo from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – is open to students from Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, the University of Guelph and Conestoga College.

Representatives from more than 180 employers are expected at the fair, which is billed as the largest of its kind in Canada.

Students require a valid student or alumni card to attend, with shuttle buses running from all four schools to the park throughout the day. The event isn’t open to the general public.

Canadian and international employers get to introduce their organizations to potential employees, while more than 3,000 students make contacts and collect information on careers.

Carol Ann Olheiser, employment coordinator at UW, said participation by so many employers despite tough economic times is an indication of the quality of local schools and their students.

Organizations taking part include Bloomberg, McCain Foods, Canadian Tire, Molson, the RCMP and TD Canada Trust.
