First Job Fair of McGill University Health Center (MUHC)

Acording to Le Messager Verdun, individuals who are thinking of a career in the health care field are invited to participate in the first job fair organised by the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) on Saturday, November 14 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

This event which will bring together job seekers, students and health professionals of the Centre will take place in three of the Centre’s sites: Montreal General Hospital, Montreal Children’s Hospital and the Lachine campus. It will be the perfect opportunity to get “behind the scenes” and visit a respected teaching and research hospital, and no doubt one of Canada’s most important.

“There are a lot of available jobs in the Centre’s hospitals and this is why we want to attract many people to this career day on November 14. We are very proud of this event and we hope that it will be a success”, said Danielle Taylor, spokesperson for public relations and communications of the MUHC.

According to Human Resources Director Stella Lopreste, “it’s the first time that the McGill University Health Centre is organising a job fair for interested individuals to become familiar with numerous interesting careers available in each of our sites.”

The Job Fair will enable participants to collect practical information and to look for a job proactively. The Centre has positions for nurses, paramedic professionals and medical technologists.

Health professionals and recruitment agents of the Centre’s units will be on site to provide information and to answer questions. “Because numerous positions are available, interested individuals must take advantage of this opportunity to leave their CV and take a guided tour of our hospitals”, Mrs. Lopreste added.
Modernised installations
“New installations make the work place more pleasant than ever”, Arthur T. Porter said. He is the general director and chief executive of the Centre. The new hospital campuses of the McGill University Health Centre were built at a cost of $2.2 billion and provide our employees with an innovative and optimised work place, enabling them to offer health care focused on patients and families. Our individual patient rooms, new and modernised premises as well as state of the art equipment make the new Centre one of the best hospitals to work in across North America.” The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is an integrated university hospital, well known internationally for its excellent clinic programmes, its research, and its teaching. Its partners include Montreal Children’s Hospital, Montreal General Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal Neurological Hospital Institute, Montreal Thoracic Institute, and Lachine Hospital.

The MUHC’s objective is to ensure that patients receive health care based on the most advanced knowledge in the health field and to contribute to this knowledge.

For the third consecutive year, the MUHC was named one of the 15 best employers of Montreal. The judges of the annual competition, organised by Mediacorp, believe that MUHC “offers an exceptional constellation for job opportunities in various fields located across the city.” The MUHC also earned praise for its flexible working hours, its bilingual work place, and continuing education and training of its employees.
