Working.com virtual career fair

working.com virtual career fair May 28 to June 11

"What we wanted to do is take the physical benefits of a bricks-and-mortar job fair, where you get the one-on-one connection with an employer, and couple that with the scope of a national job board," says Antonio da Luz, national sales director for working.com. Job-seekers, who began registering for the virtual career fair beginning May 14 on working.com/virtualcareerfair, will be able to view in-depth videos to get an inside glimpse into organizations from six categories, and use the chat function to connect in real time with a company representative one-on-one. "We're really presenting a unique opportunity for candidates to connect directly to employers," says da Luz. "Employers have been extremely receptive."

Suba Munia Suba, director of staffing for Health and Social Services with the Government of Nunavut, says the concept of a virtual career fair stands out and allows organizations like his in remote locations to tap into the national talent pool.

The six employer categories are public sector, health care, retail, finance, engineering and a general category.

The event has already attracted large employers such as Staples, Shell Canada, Canon, SNC Lavalin, Saskatchewan Power Corp., Fraser Health Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and St. Michael's Hospital, among many others.
