Toronto International Film Festival Job Fair 2010

The Toronto International Film Festival, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, Announces a 1 DAY BOX OFFICE RECRUITMENT FAIR, to recruit new:


This will be an exciting year for TIFF that will be marked by the opening of TIFF Bell Lightbox, our new home and the world’s premiere centre for film. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto's cultural history.

Customer Relations Representatives (CRRs) are the public face of the organization, providing information, sales support, and outstanding customer for the Toronto International Film Festival®.

The Recruitment Fair will take place from June 17-18, 2010 at the AMC Yonge & Dundas 24, located on the 4th Floor of Toronto Life Square, 10 Dundas Street East (on the northeast corner of Yonge and Dundas).

DAY 1 -- Thursday, June 17, 2010

Note: Sessions could be as long as 3.5 hours in length.

Recruitment sessions are by appointment only. Spots are limited and will be filled in advance. Interviews will take place on-site after an introductory presentation, therefore only candidates selected for an interview will be offered a spot.

Various positions include:

Ticket Agents:
(Festival Box Office, Industry Box Office, Venues, & Phone Room)
Responsible for selling tickets and merchandise, redeeming passes and ticket packages, reconciling cash, debit and credit card transactions and also includes sorting, filing and organizing patron orders.
Note: Ticket Agents are responsible for ensuring accuracy and attention to detail is important for success.

Line Supervisors:
Working closely with staff, volunteers, to provide information, direct and maintain order in the Box Office lines.
Note: Line Supervisors will be required to stand for the length of their shifts.

Gate Scanning Supervisors:
Coordinating with Theatre Representatives and volunteers to facilitate entry to Press & Industry screenings, and track attendance through the scanning of passes.
Note: Some trouble-shooting of equipment and hardware may be necessary.

(Limited positions available)
Retrieving cash deposits and tickets stubs from venues, providing change, and other deliveries to all Box Office locations as required. Working with the logistics team to setup and strike Box Office areas, some lifting is required.
Note: Couriers must provide their own bicycle and helmet (mandatory).

Logistics Assistant
(Limited positions available)
Receive and transport materials and provide transportation services. Setup and maintenance of various box offices and ensuring all safety standards are met.
Note: A valid Ontario driver's license and a clean driving record is required.

In all matters relating to Customer Relations, the CRRs will ensure that all information is handled in an ethical and confidential manner.

Contract Dates: August 1 – September 20, 2010 (Couriers and Logistics Assistant end on September 26, 2010)


• Previous customer service experience
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving skills, with an ability to maintain tact and diplomacy in difficult situations
• Comfortable working in a hectic, fast-paced environment
• Proven time/priority management skills, and ability to meet shifting demands
• Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
• Positive attitude
• Able to work calmly under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Attention to detail is a critical success factor
• Knowledge of a Ticketing System is an asset.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet navigation
• Driven by team success, while understanding individual accountability.
• Adaptable to a flexible working schedule, including some early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays
